Altered Journal using Lime Rickey

Linsey e-mailed me this picture of an altered journal she made. Super cute! Thanks for sharing. If you've got a picture of something you've created using supplies from the Haus, send it to me. I'd love to post it on the blog.

Wash your hands!

I woke up this morning still in disbelief that they had canceled school until May 11th. They've also canceled all the baseball practices and games for my boys and are discouraging any "public gatherings" which I take to mean NO PARK! What in the world are we supposed to do? I am trying to stay positive and believe that this is for the best, but it is going to be a LLOOONNNNGGGGG 12 days around the Fleming house!

National Scrapbook Week-End...

...is soon approaching! If you don't have any plans to scrapbook, MAKE THEM!!! Friday, the Haus is having an all day crop (10am - midnight) for just $30, and that includes supper! I'll try to find out what's on the menu. I am going to attend that day. Then Saturday is the Scrappin for Arthristis crop. Another all day event (9am - midnight) for just $75, and that includes breakfast, lunch, supper, snacks, drinks, and some GREAT prizes. (check out www.scrappinforarthritis.blogspot.com to see what I'm talking about) And finally to wrap up the week-end, two very talented ladies, Michelle and Susan Casto, will be teaching classes at the Haus. So, make your plans now to attend at least 1, if not 2 or 3 of these fun filled events. After all, you can't call yourself a scrapper if you don't atttend a "National Scrapbook Week-End" event, RIGHT?!?! ;-)

It's a GREAT day...

..to be alive and live in the hill country! I wake up every morning thankful for another day, but there are times I wake up and I am so thankful to be living here in New Braunfels. Today was one of those days. What a beautiful day we were blessed with. So, the DH and I decided to take the boys out to the river. They had a BLAST! Luckily my new lens arrived just in time so I took advantage of the great photo ops the river offered today. (I only snapped 131 pictures in the 5 hours we were there....Hey, I REALLY missed having my camera!)

Now we are back at home, the boys are camped in front of the TV watching a movie, and I am about to start scrapbooking. I can't wait to play with the new Lime Rickey paper. I didn't get to Friday afternoon :-( However, I did do a LO using the Zinnia paper, but it is already at the Haus on display. So, I don't have a picture to show you. I guess you will just have to go visit Susan at the store to see it! When you're there, tell her I said, "Hello!"

HAPPY FRIDAY!

I'm about to load the boys up and head to the Haus to pick up some Lime Rickey. I can hardly wait! When I get home, it will be nap time for them and play time for me! WHOOOHOOO! I am still without a camera, but my new lens should be arriving either today or tomorrow. When it does I will post a picture of my LO or maybe LOs I did using this new Basic Grey paper. I might pick up some of the new Zinnia paper as well. Although it is a tad "girly" it is really pretty paper. Surely I can find some way to use it! ;-) If I don't post again before Monday....HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND! Do something fun and exciting. Make a memory!

Don't forget....the search is on for a Design team. Be sure to visit the store's web-site for details. www.scrapbookhaus.net

Scrappin' for Arthritis

Sara Tate, a fellow scrapbooker, is organizing the 1st Annual Scrappin' for Arthritis Benefit Crop. Sara was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis and Fibromyalgia (a chronic pain condition) almost 6 years ago. She is very passionate about the Arthritis Foundation and enjoys finding new ways to raise money for them. She picked up her scrapbooking hobby about 2 years ago when her son was born, and has loved it ever since.

The crop will be held at the Scrapbook Haus on May 2nd from 9am - midnight. The cost is $75 and includes: breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, drinks, and the chance to win lots and lots of FABULOUS prizes! Call the store and reserve your spot today. 627-2767

More information regarding the crop can be found at: www.scrappinforarthristis.blogspot.com

(BTW...Both the "Zinnia" from LYB and "Lime Rickey" from BG and on the shelves. I will try to post a picture later today. )

Rumor confirmed...

The Lime Rickey paper is at the Haus. It was flying off the front counter before Susan could even get it out on the shelves. So, if you want some you better stop by the store quickly. Because when it's gone, it's gone. :-( boohoo I'm not sure about the new LYB paper, but I'm betting it arrived today. I will let you know for sure tomorrow.

Don't forget to sign up for the crop this Friday evening. If the husband will allow it, (heehee...he never says no) I'm going to go crop. An evening away is just what I need.

The 14 year old daughter of a friend of mine (Candi) from high school has recently been diagnosed with cancer. This is a quote from Candi: "Without a doubt this is the worst day of my life. My "little" girl Karly did not receive the results we wanted. The mass is cancer and she will begin chemo a week from Monday. The doctor said possible Ewing's Sarcoma but will not be sure on the type until the rest of the results from the biopsy come back. We are crushed and very worried about Karly. Her dad and I had already come to an agreement that if it was cancer we were staying here at MD Anderson, so that is what we will do."

I want to put together a "care package" to send to them. If you would like to make a card, a mini-album, a donation, or anything else, please send me an e-mail. my5boysmom@yahoo.com (Candi also has a 5 year old daughter, Lexie) They will be relocating their family to Houston so they can be close to top notch treatment and doctors. And above all, please pray for healing for Karly and great strength for her mom and my friend, Candi.

A little birdie told me...

...that the new Little Yellow Bicycle collection "Zinnia" and the new Basic Grey collection, "Lime Rickey" are scheduled to arrive at the Haus today! I'm so excited and I just can't hide it. I'm about to lose control and I think I like it. I'm so excited and I just can't hide it. And I know I know....(so sorry! sometimes the song in me just takes over.) I will confirm this little rumor when I find out it is a for sure thing. So, get your pages planned, your pictures printed up, and your check cards ready!

And BTW, all the information you need to know about becoming a Design Team Member is now on the Scrapbook Haus web-site home page. www.scrapbookhaus.net Take a looksey.

Hope you didn't miss out....

The garage sale was GREAT! Sellers thinned out their stash (just to be able to fatten it again!) and buyers got some REALLY great deals. If you missed out on the sale this time, don't worry, there will be another one soon.

While at the store on Saturday, Susan was pricing a new line of "Texas" themed rubber stamps. I think she sold 1/3 of them before she could even get them out on the shelves! You need to stop by and check them out. There are bluebonnets, cowboy hats, horses, the state of Texas, a LONGHORN, and many more. I will snap a picture to post the next time I am in the store.

Information regarding the Design Team should be posted on both the blog and web-site early this week. If you are interested, check back often. Here is a sneak peek of the submission guidelines. It will be available on the web-site on Monday to print out. REMEMBER: the majority of materials used in creating your submitted projects must be purchased from Scrapbook Haus.

Not Scrapbook Haus related

But, I've got to vent. So here it goes....

Children are one of God's greatest blessings. Wouldn't you agree? So, why is it that when you have more than 1 or 2 kids there are people that look at you and treat you like you are some sort of diseased and helpless animal? BUT, if you have a closet full of designer clothes, drive nice new vehicles, or live in a big house filled with new "stuff" then you are something to be envied? It just completely blows my mind. This world is so screwed up.

I am so unbelievably blessed. I can not remember the last time I purchased an article of clothing with a designer label. I proudly drive around in my moldly, oldly expedition that has over 112, 000 miles on it. I've got a roof over my head and some furniture in my house to sit and sleep on. But most importantly I have a husband who loves me even though he REALLY knows me! I have a Mamaw, mom, 2 sisters, and a brother (and lots of great friends) that would do ANYTHING for me. I have 5 healthy, handsome, charming, loud, silly boys that call me momma. And to top all that off, God has decided to bless our family with another boy that I know will be just as wonderful and special as the 5 we already have.

That's what being blessed is all about. I'm not saying everybody should have more than 2 kids. All I am trying to say is: children ARE a blessing. If one or two is the right number for you, great. If you want to have 15....go for it. I just wish people would lose the mentality that those of us who decide to have more than 2 children are doing such a disservice to society and to ourselves. It is very hurtful and completely WRONG!

Pretty new paper!

The new collection from Bo Bunny, Alissa, arrived at the Haus yesterday. It is soooooo pretty. I am going to try to get to the store and pick some up so I can make a sample LO. Anybody have a pretty little girl picture I can borrow? ;) I completed my LO with the "It's My Party" paper. The lens on my camera is messed up, so the picture is very messed up. I haven't put my photos on it yet. When I do, I will either post a new picture or take it up to Susan.

Have you seen....

the newest paper collections from Bo Bunny that the Haus has? Yes, they've been in the store for a little bit, but if you haven't gotten a chance to pick some up, you'd better hurry in!
The first collection pictured is Abbey Road and the second is It's My Party.I am going to try my hardest to get a LO made with the birthday paper tomorrow. I am pretty tired after a fun, busy family day today. (we went to Austin to watch the Longhorns play the Orange/White scrimmage. It was so fun. I am sooooo pumped up for football season! (sorry Susan, but I gotta say it) HOOK 'EM HORNS!) Plus, Mondays are supposed to be laundry day for me. I guess you will just have to check back and see! BTW, my LO for the Abbey Road collection is already at the Haus. Don't forget to check out the calendar on the web-site ( http://www.scrapbookhaus.net/ ) for daily specials and up-coming events.
