New Bo Bunny

The new Bo Bunny is here and stocked. There are 4 collections and they are all AWESOME!

The first collection, Xtreme Teen, is double sided and would be great to use for boys. I can't wait to scrapbook some pictures of my guys skateboarding using this paper.

The second collection, Teen Chic, is a beautiful mix of pinks, blues, and greens. When I saw it, I told Susan, "Man, I need a little girl!" The pictures don't do justice for this paper. It is really pretty.

The next collection, Beautiful Life, would work perfectly for any fall pictures. You could also use it for your Thanksgiving photos. It is absolutely gorgeous.
And finally, the Spooktastic Collection. It makes me want to go ahead and dress the boys up in their Halloween costumes, just so I can use some of this cool paper!

ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL? I know we are around my house. As I was taking pictures of the new Bo Bunny stuff, Susan was unpacking some really cool college paper. I went ahead and snapped some photos of all of it as well. They have Longhorn, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, and Baylor to choose from. You can choose from several different patterned papers, stickers, and even an embroidered patch! They also have some really cool paper for all of the local area schools. All I have to say is "WHOO HOO!" (and Hook 'em Horns!)

Page Kits and New Products

Did you know Scrapbook Haus sells page Kits? These kits are super easy, super fun, and super cute! Each kit comes with everything you need to create either a 1 or 2 page 12 X 12 layout. They even include assembly instructions. One kit on sale now is "So Blessed".
Last time I was in the store there were only 2 of these page kits left. So, don't miss out. They also have several 1 page kits still in stock. A new page kit is usually added every other week. If you have an idea for a kit you would like to see, let me know. scrapbookhausblog@yahoo.com
When I talked to Susan yesterday, she was BUSY unpacking a new shipment from Bo Bunny. She said there was a lot of really cool stuff. As soon as I get a chance, I will get pictures posted. They've also received a shipment from Karen Foster. So, stop in and see all the new goodies in stock.

Facing your FEARS!

"Fear makes the wolf bigger than he is." ----German Proverb

Last October, after a small rain, I went to go pick Reid up from school. In order to miss the school zones and traffic between our house and his school, I would take Hueco Springs Loop (which eventually turns into River Road). For those of you not familiar with that route, it is your typical hill country back road, full of twists, turns and hills. I had my 2 youngest with me nicely buckled up in the backseat. Before I knew it, I was spinning out of control. After what seemed liked 4 or 5 complete circles (the police report only said 1 1/2), I hit several large oak trees and totaled my husband's car. Praise God, none of us were hurt. I am still a very nervous driver, especially when it rains. For the last 10 months I have avoided that road like the plague! But this morning, the time had come. In order to arrive to school on time, I had to take the dreaded route! So, with clutched hands on the wheel I made the left turn and headed down the road. My 4 year old chimes in from the backseat, "Momma, you're going to crash the car again." I assured him that I was going to be VERY CAREFUL and that we would be fine. Poor little guy, I think I've scarred him for life. I was quite nervous and drove only about 25MPH. ( I apologize if you were one of the 3 cars behind me.) When I finally came to the red light and the loop, I breathed a big sigh of relief. I had made it! YEA! My hands ached (from squeezing the steering wheel so tight) and my heart was pounding, but I was so proud of myself for facing that fear.

I remember another "fear" I had to face about 8 years ago. The fear to start scrapbooking. That may sound crazy, but I was really nervous about getting started. I thought, I will never catch up. My oldest was almost 2 and I had a baby due in a few months. How would I ever get it all done? My sister kept insisting that it wasn't about staying "caught" up. So, I finally started with my newest roll of film. (before we all went digital!) At first I did so good. Ever time I got a roll developed, I would get all the pictures scrapped before it was time to develop another roll. Well, 4 more kids and a tub full of pictures later, I am so behind it's not even funny!

My sister was right, that's not what scrapbooking is all about. To me it's about preserving memories in a way far more special than just sliding them into a plastic sleeve in a photo album. When I scrapbook, I want my boys to be able to look back on the pictures and relive the event just like it happened yesterday. I want them to be able to read journaling that lets them know exactly what my thoughts or even their thoughts were at the time. I want them to be able to look back, enjoy, and know how much they mean to me. That is why I scrapbook. Will I ever catch up? Maybe. Does that matter. NO.

I did a layout yesterday from the JDRF Walk last October. I was supposed to be cleaning out my stuff and came across some paper I bought at Scrapbook Haus the day it opened! I enjoyed getting to think back to that day and the good time that we had. I also enjoyed getting to use some of the goodies that I had bought almost a year ago. It's so hard for me to believe a year has almost passed. I can't wait to see what the Haus has in store for the birthday celebration! Stay tuned, as soon as I know, I will let you know! (paper used - Moxxie)

So, what fear do you need to face? Remember, "the only thing we have to fear is fear itself". --FDR - First Inaugural Address, March 4, 1933

And they're off....

The first day of school! WhooHoo! and BooHoo! I was ready for a little bit of peace and quiet, but I was not ready to get up at 5:45!!! I hope all of you that have kiddos in school enjoy their first day back. I am looking forward to being back on a schedule and having more time to sit down and actually get some scrapbooking done. First I need to go through all my stuff and weed out some things for the upcoming Garage Sale. (September 13th) Then I need to get organized. I really need some help with that. Does anybody have any good ideas they would like to share? My 5 Boys!

Something near and dear to my heart

Children? What would we do without them? They make us smile, laugh, cry, and loose our minds. I know I wouldn't trade my job as the mom of 5 boys for any other occupation in the world. On April 15, 2007, my 5 year old son (now 6) was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. I've said many times that hearing your child has a chronic illness sends a wave of panic through you as parent like nothing else I've ever known. Reid has to be one of the bravest, toughest little guys I know. He endures at least 4 shots of insulin a day, as well as having his finger poked to test his blood sugar level 6 - 10 times a day. He very rarely complains and has really accepted that this is just a part of his daily life. As his mom, I just want to make it all go away. So, I am on a mission to help raise money to benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. This foundation is the key to finding a cure in Reid's lifetime. As a mom, finding that cure for my son is priority #1. Susan has very graciously offered the use of the crop room at Scrapbook Haus to hold a "Crop 4 a Cure" benefit crop. We will have lunch, supper, snacks, drinks, contests, and door prizes that will blow your mind! Space is limited. Call to reserve your spot today. Thanks! :)

On a different note, several people have come into the store and ask Susan some questions about the blog contest. So, let me clarify a few rules. Your entry does not have to be a 12 X 12 layout. It can be 6 X 6, 8 1/2 X 11, or whatever size you would like to make. In fact, your entry doesn't even have to be a layout. If you are a card maker, you can enter a card. If you like to alter items, then go for it! As long as your finished product uses the item of the week (this week it's Tinkering Ink) then that will work. So, once again, what are you waiting for.....get busy!!!

Blog Contest

Are you ready to have some fun, get some scrapbooking done, and possibly win a prize? I hope so. There is going to be a weekly blog contest. The rules are simple. Each week I will choose a specific product. It will be your job to visit Scrapbook Haus, purchase the product, and then create a layout using it. After you are done with your masterpiece, bring it back to the Haus so it can be judged by customers. Each challenge will be posted on Friday. You will have one week to complete the challenge and bring it in. The judging will last for one week. The layout receiving the most votes will receive an AWESOME prize from Scrapbook Haus. The prize could be a gift card, a great discount coupon, even free products! Any questions? Just e-mail me at scrapbookhausblog@yahoo.com.
The featured product this week is Tinkering Ink. I love their paper! Scrapbook Haus has 7 different collections including:

Plus 2 additional BRAND NEW collections: Beau Jardine and Retro Metro. You will have to visit the store to see these two!

You can choose any of the 7 different collections shown and listed above. I made my layout using the Fresco collection. When I saw it, I had to buy it, even though I have 5 boys and it has LOTS of PINK! :) I decided to use a picture of my DH and I and was very pleased with the outcome. So, what are you waiting for? Take the challenge and get to scrappin'! You have until next Friday, August 29th, to get your layout completed and returned to the Haus. Judging will take place from August 30th - September 4th. The winner will be announced (on the Blog) on Friday, September 5th. Have fun!!! I can't wait to see all your talented work.
