Tell your loved ones that Scrapbook Haus has several gift options for the crafty person in the family. Gift cards can be bought in any denomination. There are no service fees or expiration dates. The recipient can spend the gift card on merchandise or class fees. You don't have to worry about what "stuff" your loved one already owns. She can pick out exactly what she wants!

Crop room key tags are another option. Until December 24, they are on sale for $45 (regular price $60). The recipient is entitled to: three free crops, $15 in class fees, 15% discount on your birthday, access to the crop room, and full access to store dies and punches for one calendar year. What a deal! That's only $3.75 per month OR 93 cents per week.

Christmas card idea

Are you still working on your cards? I finished mine last night and made the final trip to the post office today. Here is a photo of one of mine. Instead of using the traditional Christmas collections, I opted to use American Crafts City Park collection. It includes the raspberry pink and light blue colors that are so popular this year. I stamped using Rubber Stamp Tapestry stamps in red, pink, green, and silver. The center is a cut out that allows you to view the message stamped on the inside.

Scrapbook Basics Class

The store is offering a basics class on Sunday, Dec 5 1 - 3 PM. Class fee is just $15. If you have been interested in scrapbooking but don't know how to get started, this is the class for you. The class will review supplies, techniques, design theory, and then give you time to put those skills to work. Just bring along 3-5 photos and you will leave with a completed 12 x 12 layout! Scrapbooking is a fun way to preserve memories as well as a way to create wonderful gifts.

Technique Tuesday arrives!

Susan just received a whole collection of Technique Tuesday acrylic stamps. There are many designs to select from and prices start at $3.50. She also has many styles of Technique Tiles. These are the chipboard shapes you may have seen at the CK convention. One package contains MANY nested shapes so you can complete a ton of projects with a single package. The shapes can be inked, misted, painted, or heat embossed to decorate them. The larger sizes work on scrapbook pages and the smaller are perfect for cards.

Saturday night Oct 9 4 PM - 11 PM the crop room will be available for crafters. For only $7, you get full access to all the dies and lots of room to work on your projects.

Sunday Oct 10 1-3 PM the store is hosting an Intro to Scrapbooking class for $15. This is a great way to get started in the hobby. Bring 3-5 photos and you will leave with a completed 12 x 12 layout. All supplies and equipment are provided.

Sunday Oct 10 1-3 PM Intro to Scrapboking Class $15 This is a great way to explore this hobby, learn new techniques, and leave with a completed 12 x 12 layout.

Saturday October 16
Crafters' Garage Sale! The store opens an hour early at 9:00 for this event. All sales in the garage sale are CASH only. This is a great way to collect supplies at a discount price if you're just starting the hobby.

If you're a veteran and are running out of room at home for all your supplies, consider purging the surplus as a seller at the garage sale. Just call the store by Oct 12 to get a vendor number. Drop off your items on Oct 15 and then collect your proceeds afterwards. You get to spend the day relaxing while the store volunteers sell your items. Proceeds can be collected in two ways: 50% of your sales in cash OR 100% of your sales in store merchandise.

The Canon representative will also return on Oct 16 11 - 3 PM to demonstrate her fantastic photo printers. Bring your memory cards and have her print out a photo for free.

Anyone for Tea Bag folding?

Are you intrigued by the tea bag folding card samples in the store? Janet will be at the store on Saturday, Oct 23 to teach a kite fold card class 10:30-12:30. Cost is $20. Everyone will make the wonderful snowflake card complete with glimmer and starburst. Attendees will use a Gemlet (an acrylic tea bag tile guide) and mini stamps to complete a unique medallion for the other card. You will have your choice of three different designs (Halloween, Christmas or Ladybug). The fold is so easy and versatile that you won't want to miss this class.

Technique Tuesday arrives!

If you're a card maker, you'll want to make a trip to the store to look at the new acrylic stamp sets by Technique Tuesday. There are two new border stamp sets that might interest you. There is also a biblical verse set by Ali Edwards.

The store has had many requests for peace sign stamps. The card pictured above was created with just one stamp set. The set includes several different styles of the peace sign. If you are looking for a unique design, there is also a single stamp of a peace sign created by flowers. Great if you like to use your copic markers to color.

The other card was created with a cupcake stamp set. The icing on the cakes was actually glitter. It really makes it a celebration!

All the Technique Tuesday stamps are located on the same display wall in the store.

Tim Holtz is in!

The store has received several new Tim Holtz items. Have you checked out his new enbossing folders? They come in a set of two. I snatched up the flourish set as that is a favorite design element. There is also a flourish die cut that I used on a store layout.

New Merchandise Arrives

As you can see from the fabulous photos, the store has received ALOT of new merchandise. The Autumn choices include Best Creation and Karen Foster. Halloween offerings include Best Creation (two different collections) and SEI. For Christmas, you can choose Karen Foster. AdornIt has a collection called "Vintage Groove" that has some amazing coordinating patterns/colors. Best Creation is known for offering glittery thermo embossed paper at a reasonable price.

My favorite collection is Best Creation "Bella"- that's the two bright photos above. It is perfect for spring-summer- happy little layouts. I love the bright green and pink colors!

Halloween Mini Album

Sept 26 4 - 6:30 will be a Halloween mini album class featuring the Best Creations Halloween collection. As you can tell from the photos, the book is adorable. You will leave with an album ready to fill with photos next month! (Doesn't that mean we will be ahead in our scrapping? Now that's scary!) Cost is $25.

Another disclaimer: If the photos look a little strange, you're right. I loaded the photos in order so you could see the album from front to back. As you can see the photos are arranged in reverse order. Sorry for any confusion. The book really is cute and is on display on the counter at the store.

New Cricut Class

The store is introducing a new monthly class offering. On Sept 26 3:30-5:30, attendees will have the chance to create this cute Back to School layout. You will have the chance to use a Cricut machine to create the artwork. This is the perfect class to learn all the possibilities of using a Cricut if you have been thinking about buying a machine. It will also be useful for current owners to learn more about what their machine can do. Cost is $20.

The store will host a representative from Canon on Saturday 11AM - 3PM. She is bringing five of Canon's picture printers to the store for you to try for FREE. Bring your cameras, memory cards, flash drives, CDs, and laptops and see how great home picture printing technology can be. Pictures can be printed as small as 1" x 1" and as big as 13 x 19. I can't wait to try this out.

The countdown to CKC Convention is on! The store will be hosting a variety of special events this weekend in celebration of the CKC event in San Marcos. The store will be open extra hours for your shopping convenience. There will be a special Crop Night on Friday 4 PM to 1 AM. Cost is $20. The event will include prizes & contests as well as refreshments to keep you energized through the night. There will be special visitors and make n' takes on Saturday. You won't want to miss this event!

New Product Arrives!

The store is now carrying "Your Story by Roeda" decorative art. It is a three-step magnetic display system. You select a base, select words, and then select your embellishments. (It's kinda like a magnetic scrapbook page in your home.) This sample used the word "family" as the base. There are several other choices to pick from. The base can be displayed by clinging to metal doors or appliances, used in a stand up display base (as in the photo), or hung on the wall with a hanger.

You can also select a picture frame or a memo board as the base. (see photo) There are many different themes of embellishments available: seasons, gardening, beach, outdoors, pets. When you want to change the look of your base, simply switch out the embellishments. Be sure to check out the huge display the next time you're in the store. This would be a great Christmas or wedding gift!

Dead Beat Designs finds a new home

Be sure to check out the Dead Beat Design display the next time you visit the store. All of the DBD stamps have been moved to the front display and they now occupy their own place of honor. In addition, all the samples are now displayed within the area so you can get lots of creative ideas while you are selecting your stamps. (P.S. Mark is creating some awesome Halloween designs.)

If you are looking for some unique sports-themed paper, Scrapbook Haus is the place to visit. This layout was created with Scrappin Sport paper. Several sports are featured and the paper comes already glittered! Even though the collection uses "girls" in the title, I think some of the paper choices would be suitable for either girls or boys. Lunch Box Love Notes

Since school is just around the corner, it's time to do another lunch box love note exchange. We will create little notes you can put in a child's lunch box (or leave for other loved ones). Each participant will create 10 love notes to exchange with the other participants. Your kids will really enjoy getting these surprise notes at lunchtime.

Due date: 6 PM Wednesday, Aug 18 so you have lots of time for creativity
Pick up your notes on Saturday, Aug 21.

Guidelines:
1. Possible themes include sports, love, academics, animals, rock n' roll, Disney, motivational sayings. All cards should be unisex in design so they are appropriate for girls or boys.
2. Size: 2" x 3.5" OR larger. You can create any shape (circle, heart, star) as long as it meets the minimum size.
3. Supplies: For sturdiness, please use cardstock and plan a two-layer design and include some sort of embellishment (sticker, die cut, etc...)
4. Please include journaling lines on your cards by either stamping lines OR print lines on your computer.

Basic Gray "Lemonade"

I created this layout using the "Lemonade" collection from Basic Gray. I don't usually use any yellow-green paper in my projects but I thought it looked really cool with the bright pink floral design. Eventually, the layout will include a photo of Gemma, Susan's puppy. (I'm going to have to work on making her name stand out more on the layout.)

Coredinations project

There are a couple of special Core-dinations cardstock in the store you might want to check out. The cardstock is already embossed with a pattern when you purchase it. This card was created using the butterfly cardstock. Originally it was totally white. I sanded down the surface to reveal the red coloring. The edges were torn to create even more of a pop of color. This product is also available with stars (brown), label design (black), cherries (red), and polka dots (white).

American Crafts products

American Crafts has some really cute collections this season. The two cards were made from the "Botanique" collection. Some of the butterflies are printed in a shiny copper finish to add a little extra zing to your project. Both papers used in the other card include glitter finish.
The layout was created using "Letterbox." The colors mix and match beautifully! All papers are cardstock weight and printed on both sides.

Julie will be teaching a class to create a stationery caddy Sunday, May 23 4 - 6 PM. Cost to enroll is $25. This is a great end of year teacher gift. You'll create a caddy to hold the 4 note cards, 4 gift enclosure cards, and 4 tags you will create. The caddy also includes a note pad and postage stamp holder. The bottom photo shows the caddy with the lid on. The top photo shows a bird's eye view of the caddy opened up with the cards displayed.

If you are looking for a cute, new product for your children's activities, check out the new arrival from Scrappin Sports. There are 9 different themes: dance, recital, competition, I love sports, volleyball, cheer spirit, basketball, soccer, and girls softball. The photo above shows 3 of these themes. This is a slick finish double-sided paper with a thermographic glitter design. The colors are bright and cheerful. The top photo shows the front and back of the paper and the matching stickers for one theme. The paper is $1.19 and the coordinating cardstock stickers are $2.79.

Scrapbooking Basics Class this Saturday

This Saturday, April 10 10:30 - 12:30, I will be teaching a Scrapbook Basics class at the store. This is the perfect opportunity to explore a new hobby. Every attendee is asked to bring along 4-6 photos. You will leave with a completed 12 x 12 layout. All supplies and equipment will be provided. The best part is that this class is FREE! Great new product

The store has just received a great new product- Bazzill Glaze cardstock. As you can see in the photo, the cardstock is white on white. The pattern is created by selected glazed areas. You can see the design in the area highlighted by the camera flash. There are two choices: this Easter egg pattern and a cute cupcake pattern.

You can use the cardstock as is if you want a monochromatic scheme. The upper left corner was colored easily by rubbing a small ink pad across the corner. The glazed area will resist the ink and the paper will absorb the color. If you want a sharp contrast, let the ink soak in a few minutes. Then wipe the surface with a paper towel. The glazed area will return to a brighter white shade after wiping. (This product is similar to the "Invisibles.") You can also use your Glimmer Mist or Smooch Spritz to color the cardstock.

The upper right corner (the small egg) was dyed by "painting" ink onto selected parts of an Easter egg. I wanted to see the effects of using multicolored inks on the paper. Well, I am not into coloring, so I opted for the fast route using an ink pad. I am sure Copic markers or pencils would also be effective if you enjoy coloring.

There are lots of possibilities. Stop by the store to see the finished project using Bazzill Glaze.

In just two weeks, the big day will be here. Scrapbook Haus has a wonderful line from Reminisce that is just perfect for those photos with the Easter bunny. This sample features the poodle's visit to the bunny. This collection also has some patterned paper in a two-page spread format.

Great (and quick) Disney Ideas

I found some great paper for Disney layouts. It is the Best Creation "Once Upon a Dream" collection. There are several designs suitable for a layout as in the photo. The collection is also great for a princess theme or for a girly party invitation. The glitter accents are embossed on the paper so there is no worry about glitter flaking off. The cardstock-weight paper is double-sided too. Always a favorite of mine! On the layout above, the only elements I added were the matted photo and the title letters. All the other artwork is already on the page. This makes for a very quick project.

New Product

Have you checked out the American Crafts collections in the store? This beach scene was created using the"Heat Wave" Collection. One sheet is available in variable sea-colored glitter! Another is covered with clouds. Lots of possibilities for your vacation photos. Plus this collection has the added feature of offering you a matching border strip on the bottom edge of each sheet of cardstock.

Another great collection is "Dear Lizzy." You may have seen ads on the internet stores. I did not really like this collection at first. But when I started working with it, I fell in love. The colors are so coordinated, you can't go wrong. There are even some designs in the collection with Easter artwork. The look would also work for Mother's Day.

The green striped paper is really glitter striped. Wow! The collection also features rose and green coordinating ribbon as seen in the layout. There are also additional embellishments that coordinate well.

The next garage sale is April 17. Start cleaning out your craft closet now! This is an opportunity to recycle your craft supplies and either earn cash or merchandise credit. What a deal! There is no charge to participate and you don't have to work the sale. Call the store to reserve your spot. For beginning crafters, this is a great chance to get started in the hobby with a very low investment. This is also perfect for teens and tweens who are just developing their craft skills on a limited budget. Mark your calendar and remember the store opens an hour earlier (9 AM) for this event.

Card Swap

If you enjoy making cards, then this is the event for you! We are hosting a card swap at the store. Each participant is asked to make 6 cards to exchange with other cardmakers. The cards can be any size or shape. You need to use the American Crafts Abode collection paper and an embellishment from the collection. Sign up to participate by emailing your name & phone number to marcie.cards@yahoo.com. Then drop off your cards by closing on Sunday, Feb 21 and your new cards will be ready for pick up on Feb 22. (No envelopes needed.)

It is really amazing how unique all the submissions are even though the same materials are used. Samples from the first card swap are on display at the store. And they're really great!

American Crafts is here!

Five collections from American Crafts have arrived at the store. This company is known for double-sided, cardstock-weight paper. One side is patterned with a coordinating solid on the back. The colors within a collection all match so your choices are versatile. Some patterns also have glossy elements. All the collections include matching embellishments.

Two of the collections offer an extra bonus feature. You know the little strip at the bottom of a sheet of paper that includes the company name and a UPC bar code? These collections include a printed border on the back of this strip. So something you would normally throw away can now be used as a border on your project. How cool is that?

We're so excited about the addition of American Crafts to the inventory that we're highlighting one of the collections for the current card swap. Stop by the store and check out the new items!

Valentine's Day Ideas

Valentine's Day is closing in on us. Here are some quick and easy card ideas. The card on the far right was created from a doily spritzed with Cherry red Smooch mounted on black cardstock. The middle card is similar but uses pink Glimmer Mist on the doily and a white card base. The card on the far left was created from Basic Grey's Eskimo Kisses Christmas collection by using selected stripes on Fairy Tale pink Doublemates cardstock.

The card on the left was made from Imaginisce "Fancy Hearts" and "I Enjoy Being a Girl." The card on the right uses 1/4 of a sheet of GCD "Birdie Border." The border is already glitter flocked which saves alot of time. Note both envelopes were lined. This always makes a card seem more elegant.

New Piggy Tales Collection

Piggy Tales has a delightful line in the store called "5 Little Ducks Collection." It really is suitable for more than baby-themed projects. This layout was created with 3 of the double-sided cardstock papers. I also used a Hero Arts rubber stamp to create the flourish embellishment. (I always forget that rubber stamps can be used for more than cards.) Unfortunately this photo does not emphasize the details; parts of the flourish are decorated with Basic Grey bling.

The note card below was created from 1/2 sheet of this collection. It could be used as a note card, kid's birthday card, or party invitation. Select strips were cut out from the paper and arranged on the front of a plain white card. Another strip was glued to the inside of the card. Very fast and easy project!

Big Events this Saturday

It may be cold outside but it's going to be hot, hot, hot Saturday, December 12 at Scrapbook Haus. The day is packed with fun events to make you smile whether you are an expert crafter or a novice.

From 1-5 PM, two different Make 'n Takes will be offered in the store. JimmyeSue of Texana Designs/Jam'n Stamps fame will be helping guests create a Christmas bookmark. You know how cute her artwork is so you won't want to miss it. Plus as a participant, you'll be entered in a drawing to win a fabulous prize. Additionally, I will be helping guests create a "Cozy Winter" treat. And the best part... both these events are totally FREE! If you're looking for inexpensive ideas for teacher gifts, this is the place to be. Both projects will be offered continuously throughout the afternoon so stop by anytime to join in the fun.

Christmas New Arrival

The new Basic Gray collection "Eskimo Kisses" is now in the store. It features double-sided cardstock-weight paper in non-traditional Christmas colors (pale blue, pink, lime green). I created this card using three sheets of paper from this collection. This is a great idea for a quick yet handmade Christmas card. The front panel of the card is simply 1/6 of a sheet of "Rooftop" so you can create 6 cards from a single sheet. I used "Evergreen" for the card base; but, you can use a pre-folded white card instead. The greetings were printed on the computer. The pink stripe along the bottom is really one of the stripes found on "Powdered Sugar." I still have at least 13 more stripes on this sheet of paper for future projects. This collection gives you a variety of choices. (I also noticed a really cute Bling blue crystal Christmas tree embellishment that matches this collection.)
